NZ Official Residence Seoul Korea
Campus
The garden for the NZ Ambassador’s Official Residence in Seoul has been designed to showcase a coming together of South Korean and New Zealand design aesthetics while providing facilities to cater for large groups of people and ceremonial functions. In keeping with the modernist design of the new embassy the landscape design was intentionally kept minimal but designed to a grand scale.
The landscape design uses a combination of design elements to create a functional garden that also compliments the architecture and requirements of the new residence. The design features established trees with an understorey of NZ plant material, three outdoor entertaining areas offering a selection of spaces for official functions - a garden terrace opening directly onto the formal living area, a lawn terrace providing facilities for a marquee and a sunken lawn terrace providing a water feature and focal point at the end of the garden as well as to the entrance of the residence.
