Macquarie University Hospital Precinct masterplan, Design Excellence Strategy and Urban Design Guidelines

33 Parallel recently prepared a Landscape Audit Report of Macquarie University’s Hospital Precinct. The landscape audit report provided analysis and identified opportunities for improvement across the site. A landscape master plan for the Precinct was completed in conjunction with the audit report and complements it by providing:

• Planting palettes and planting strategy for each planting type identified in the landscape audit report

• Hardwork palettes for the site

• Detail master plans for the landscape zones identified for future upgrades

The master plan envisions the Research and Health precinct as a contemporary landscape that reflects the high quality and international standards of these institutions.

Darren, while Director at Context, also contributed to a number of major capital works projects and in the preparation of a Design Excellence Strategy and Urban Design Guidelines including Landscape and Vegetation Management Plans for the Campus in conjunction with COX, to guide the built form and public domain elements for each of the Universities distinct precincts.

The Guidelines act as a guiding document in implementing the Campus Master Plan 2014. In addition to the Design Excellence Strategy and Urban Design Guidelines, the Concept Plan conditions of approval also required detailed management plans to support new development in each precinct. These include Landscape Management Plans prepared by Darren and Vegetation Management Plans prepared by Lesryk Environmental.

The Guidelines are a set of live documents. When variations to the guidelines are proposed, the Guidelines are updated and reviewed by the University Design Excellence Committee, University Executive and University Council for their endorsement.
