While Director at CONTEXT, Darren was engaged by Blue Mountains City Council to undertake master planning for Blackheath Village Centre with particular focus on the public domain - the footpaths, roads, carparks and other public areas within the Village.

The master plan sets a clear framework for upgrading the village centre into the future in a way that addresses the current and projected future needs of Blackheath.

Public space within the village centre was reviewed to identify ways in which it could be made more functional, safe and attractive for both locals and visitors, all while protecting the unique mountain village character of Blackheath. The master plan also seeks improvements to parking turnover and traffic circulation, village character and pedestrian

amenity.

The master plan process involved listening carefully to the Blackheath community who were well-versed in the issues and opportunities relating to their Village, undertake extensive background research and analysis on the ground and liaise closely with the traffic consultants in order to provide a relevant plan for the future.
